They still tour with them, Flabba usually on his Hofner.

To the best of my knowledge, his Hofner is gone. He now rolls with a fiver (forget the brand) or Steinberger.

I really wish they would reunite with Apple Gabriel, I miss his voice in the blend.

Yeahhh - by The Way Apple Gabriel also has his Solo Stuff, saw him live a couple of years ago

Hi all! New here, but great to see the reggae bassie's getting respect.

So many great ones have been mentioned. Just have to agree with family man and Lloyd Brevett. I met Brevett a show where my old reggae band opened for them. I was wearing a tux and fedora. He was all "eh mon, you like ska?" I was like YAHMON! was a surreal experience. They put on such a great show, and he rocked it on bass as always.

Big fan of Aston Barrett. He's so creative and his bass lines really contributed a lot to Marley's songs. According to wikipedia he was also involved in the production and arrangement of many Bob Marley songs.

He also recorded a lot of sessions outside of the Wailers: like definitive super heavy dub tracks for Augustus Pablo and Keith Hudson, and roots classics with Burning Spear, for example.

It really is humbling, and inspiring to read about his work. Are you into any modern reggae bands? I kinda like John Browns Body. Ever heard them?

I'm kind of out of touch with the scene right now, though I've seen quite a few newer bands at various festivals. Also a lot of good backing bands, but it's hard to find out who is playing in them.

I'm familiar with John Brown's Body, great band! Isn't their bass player recently deceased?
