The Grace Jones Compass Point recordings with Robbie have some of my favorite recorded bass tones, just off the hook great. PD sure picks great stuff to cover.
Grace Jones is the most genuine, scary and intense person I ever met.
Such a presence.
Love her music.

A cool record and Grace Jones was on a nice run then. Great listening.

PD does it again! I wondered if he'd mention "Peanut Butter" and he does. Well-researched as usual. 
Those three Compass Point Grace Jones albums have stood up remarkably well over the decades. And if the keyboards (Prophet 5) sound familiar to Level 42 fans it's because Wally Badarou was a member of the "Compass Point All Stars".

In the mid 80s I was playing for an artist that opened shows on a short tour. On stage, backstage and on the bus she was always so intense and seemed ready to explode. There was an terse dynamic between her and talent, players and crew that kept everyone on edge, mostly in a good way... but there were moments. Grace is a panther in human skin.
That must have been wild! Her autobiography is an interesting read - and the artist rider printed at the end is something else.
There's also a documentary about her called Bloodlight and Bami which offers a fascinating glimpse of her life (including a scene where she gets frustrated with Robbie Shakespeare over the phone because he hasn't turned up for a session).
