Removing battery for storage

I took a buddy's bass to straighten out the neck and lower the action when he went away for school because it was in need of some major TLC. I'm gonna finish cleaning it tomorrow though and I'll be putting it back where I found it. Since he won't be playing it for months (at least), would it be a smart idea to remove the battery so nothing gets corroded?

Normally I'd just play it while he's gone, but I have three [better] basses already...

Yes. Especially if it isnt durecell or energizer battery. Ive seen to many other brands of battery where battery is still within expiration date and yet is corroded and leaking inside the sealed package. Put battery in little baggie and that inside storage compartment of case or storage pocket of gig bag if its not going to be played for several months.

Batteries don't always leak and they rarely cause serious damage when they do. But it is always good practice to pull them when you know that the device they power will go unused for a while. Sorry but I've had plenty of Energizer and Duracell batteries leak too so there is no brand that is immune to this.

Yes... remove the battery. There's absolutely no downside to removing it, but possible downsides to not removing it. Also, I timed the procedure on my bass... took 8.3 seconds. Time well spent.
