Removing the 700rbII from the 210 combo?!?!?

Is this easily done?? I hav taken the head out once.. it does just slide out but is it easy to get the sides and top covered?? and rack ears aswell!! i just want to use it with a 4x10 and 1x15 instead of carrying around the 2x10 thats stuck to it...
But i could still use the 2x10 for practice..

Has anyone done this here and could anyone point me in the direction for the parts needed?? :help:

GK sells the top/side plate, and ears. Call Lany at GK parts. I have found rack ears out of our server room that worked will with a little modification as well. I even built a headcase out of plywood once. You need to make sure that you put a vent hole on the top so the fan can breath.

You'd be better off leaving it in the box and rewiring the speakers to 16ohms(wire them in Series). Then add an 8ohm 4x10 cab, for a total impedance of 5.3ohms. All 6 speakers will receive the same amount of power, and it will blow away a 4x10+1x15 setup.

At the worst it might not have a top plate on the amp. Whatever is there when you pull it out I'd imagine you could get a casing built for it anyway.

Although while your on the topic of 4x10 + 1x15 you might wanna check out some of the threads on phasing. From a scientific standpoint it's bad to mix different cabs, and you'd be better having 2 4x10s or 2 15s. D music is right that that setup will be louder (and it'll be clearer too) but it sounds like you want to avoid the hassle of having a combo which I certainly would too, good idea about keeping the speakers for practise though.

Ye dmusics way is a bit to complicated for me :) thanks tho... but ye when i take out the head it doesnt have sides or a top... what i want to do is either sell it on and buy a 1001rb or just keep it and get it incased and put it in a rack case with the rack tuner and the rack pre-amp/eq/comp that i hav... then i could use the 2x10 for practice just plug it in and i suppose a 4x10 for gigs dont even need the 1x15... dont want the hassle of carrying around a combo and cabs...

The speakon cable coming out of the combo is short, so you will need to get an adaptor to put two speakon cables together, or take that cable out that goes into the combo and lengthen it about a foot so you can put an amp rack on top of it.

I would just keep the combo at practice and find a used 400RBIII head, take the plate/ears off of it and put it on the 700 that's in the combo now, and rack the 400 in the combo and use it for practice. It will sound so good that you can use if for small bars instead of the big rig too. It gives you a backup amp as well. For the cost of getting the amp plate new, you can get about halfway to the price of a used 400RBIII.
