Repeatedly Logged Out on Same Page

Seems like one or more cookies must not be getting firmly set somewhere. I logged in, clicked over to a post from my notifications, and tried to like the reply, only to get an error message: "You must be logged in to do that." Top menu bar shows I was logged in, but ok... I used the dialogue box to re-log in. Tried it again, get the same result, same error. It took about 4-5 tries to "stay" logged in.

Nothing in my browser has changed since I was logged in without difficulty an hour or two ago.

Thanks in advance to all the code jockeys, and good luck.

It just did it again! Screencapped it this time, for what it's worth (see below).

Hi!
Can you try clearing your cookies for me?
Hi Paul. I did (and do every time I close the browser, actually), but it didn't seem to have any effect.

In fact, I came back to this thread just now because it happened again, this time on a different computer, different OS. This time, instead of finding out when I tried to perform an action, the page automatically refreshed, and whammo, I was suddenly logged out.

I don't know if it's tied to a specific length of time I'm logged in; I can go along fine for quite a while, and then the error hits.

Thanks for looking into it!

It's still happening. I can only guess, but maybe when the cookies refresh to send alerts, it's somehow knocking out the cookie that keeps me logged in. :bag:

I'm afraid I'm at a loss. I can try and find your session data and manually clear it out - sounds like a corruption on our end if it's affecting you across multiple computers.
I think it must be, as nothing on my end has changed (especially on two different machines). It's still happening, even now. :bag:

Continued thanks for checking on it.

The intervals are getting ridiculously short now. This morning I logged in, clicked on the alerts "Show All," and was instantly given the "You must be logged in to do that" panel. Elapsed time to error ~ 2 seconds.

To satisfy the checklists, yes, I have cycled my modem & router (zero effect), and tried the "Stay logged in" checkbox. Also useless.

I'm guessing at this rate, soon it'll be telling me I have to be logged in before I can log in?

Possibly by postcard? :dead:

I don’t get how this is only affecting a couple users. Argh. I’ll try to poke around your account in the database and maybe delete your session data. I’ll do some more research as well

Can you give me some more info on your system: Desktop OS? What browser? What happens if you try in a new "private" or "incognito" window?
Win 7 desk, Win 10 laptop, Firefox on both. I've never used the private or incognito functions, so I'm not sure what would happen, really. I do run Privacy badger and Ublock Origin on both machines, but I always have, and that's never presented an issue on TB in the months prior to this recent weirdness. Not to mention, if @garp is getting the same thing on a Mac/Safari, it would seem to point at something beyond the browsers. (And thanks, Garp! Glad it's not just me.)

Same here on the iPhone. I figured it was because I browse in private mode. I don’t get logged out while viewing The site but if I leave for a short time or minimize the browser I’m logged out when it reloads.
