Replacing a fingerboard?

i'm actually asking this for a buddy of mine, he wants to replace the fingerboard on one of his guitars and he was wondering how to go about it (he likes doing his own repairs). Neither of us are sure about what would be the best way to remove the board that's on there now. Any input would be great, thanks guys.
