Replacing a speaker in older peavy 115

I have a Altec Lansining 921-8A speaker was wondering if this would be a good replacement in a older peavy 115 cab with some mounting mods. I'm looking to save the old cabinet and already have the speaker. Any ideas on what this would sound like. probably will power with ampeg pf500 . Would be using
for smaller venues playing some old classic country and little classsic rock.

IME, the Altec does not have sufficient power handling for your amp, even if it was suitable for the cabinet.

Which cabinet and which driver is it loaded with now?

The cabinet was a 115 older peavy,,had a Eminence beta15A not sure if that's what came in it , it's just an old probably 80's cabinet that someone give my brother at sometime and the cone is torn. He had the Altec laying around it came from some old equipment but not sure from what. I had thought maybe try to use both pieces and make a small cab for smaller building and keep from throwing the old stuff away.

The Altec will have a power handling similar (or less) to the Beta 15A, but darker. I also wouldn't consider operating the Beta 15A at anywhere near 300 watts RMS.

I didn't ever use the cab it was torn when i looked at it . Probably better to let it all set and let someone else use the parts or scrap it all. I knew the eminence was 300 watt at 8ohm so it probably has been over powered and or age of the speaker cone caused the tear either way that's probably why it's setting in the corner. I will probably let it set a while longer.

I wouldn't rate it in a bass guitar application at 300 watts, these kinds of ratings lead to unanticipated damage from being overpowered even though you think you are being reasonable.
