Replacing Mag 115 Speaker

Hi all, I'm looking to add a 15" cabinet to my Mag600R and ABM410 to strenghen my lows and give me a bit more clean power. I have looked at adding a Mag 115 but have heard a few negative things about it, primarily that it is 'muddy'. It does however fit my two main criteria, its light and cheap.
So it got me thinking... is this because of a crap driver or poor cabinet design (or both). I know where I can get a used Mag 115 pretty cheap and was wondering how it would go if I replaced the stock driver with an Eminence neo driver (Deltalite or Kappalite). Has anyone attempted this or are the design implications vastly more complicated than a straight one for one swap.
Any thoughts greatly appreciated!

I had a 15 inch Blue Line speaker that I purchased on eBay for cheap. I had a cabinet built that was based upon the dimensions of a MAG 115 Deep. The speaker ended up being defective, but the cab was already built. So I put an Eminence Legend CB15 in it. It sounded great.

The key is finding a speaker that will work nicely in a fairly small box. The Legend CB15 was just that. I have since obtained a 15 inch replacement Blue Line speaker and am using it now. It's a close call, but I think I like the Blue Line slightly better than the CB15. Both sound great, but the Blue Line has a bit more grunt, while the CB15 is a bit warmer.

I'm looking to do the same thing exactly because my 115 is muddy and can't even handle drop D. Some of the Eminence drivers I've seen are for cabs around 9 cf whereas the Mag 115 cab is about 4cf.

i've done it, i used an eminence delta 500watt 8ohm speaker which cost me around £60, its great. sounds as good as it could for a non-tuned cabinate with little space behind the driver. only thing i can say is that it is realy heavy, but i cant remeber if it was as heavy before with the orignl ashdown blue speaker.

If you are looking for a 15 that works well in a small box, definitely check out the Legend CB15.

Sorry, I should have specified that was looking at the bigger deep version, if that makes a difference. I already have a 36kg 4x10 so I will definately be looking to keep the weight below the stock 20kgs if possible.
