My TRB6JP1 quit on me the other day. In getting replacements for the pickups and preamp, I'm trying to maintain as much of the original sound(that came from pickups which are split coils and passive, while the preamp is the active part).
If not possible, would like to improve the bass(upping the sensitivity, punch, presence of warm full deep lows/2 or 3-way adjustable mids and crisp highs), while keeping the overall balance between all of sound characteristics more or less the same as the original setup.
Given that, is it better to replace the original setup with new passive split coils and its matching active preamp or totally active pickups and with a matching preamp?
Hopefully awaiting your invaluable feedback!
