Replacing Pickups

I have a Squier Precision that i'm gonna put Quarter Pounders in.

The only guitar shop around is Guitar Center, and they will charge me $45, which i'm not sure is a good deal or not.

If they're ripping me off on this, am i just better off soldering it myself? By the way, the only iron i have is a 6.5 watt, is that strong enough?

I am not familiar with the 6.5 watt soldering.

I use a 40 watt iron and a 45 watt de-soldering
iron. You can get a 40 watt for $10 at Radio shack.

The soldering is just two wires. If the pot gets too
hot, it will damage it. Don't apply heat to the pot
itself, if you can help it. Just attach wire to the
solder that is already there. Use flux solder. It will
probably come with the $10 iron. You don't have
to heat the old wires to take them off. You can
just snip those two wires off real short.
