REPLACING PUPS AND STRINGS Q?

I’m replacing both the pups and strings on my Gretsch G2220. Strings(LaBella Deep Talkin Flats) have come in but pups(TV Jones Thundertron) are out of stock and on order. Should I wait to put the strings on until the pups come in and do both or am I ok to put the strings on and pull them off when I replace the pups later. Just don’t want to screw up an expensive set of strings.

I’ve done it both ways. If you go ahead and replace the stings you only have to loosen them to replace the pups. Not take them completely off. Won’t hurt the strings at all. On the other hand it’s easier to replace pups with the strings completely off. But again that wouldn’t hurt the new strings either.

Excellent, thank you for the reply. The strings alone made a heck of a difference!
