REPLACING TRUSS-ROD NUT???

I have a '93 Fender Jazz Bass (Boner Bass) with a stripped out truss-rod nut. How do I go about replacing it?? Is it as easy as unscrewing the old one & replacing with a new one. Or are there more steps to it, such as clamping neck into a straight position before removing old nut. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

It's really that easy. No need to clamp anything. You may want to lube the new assembly before installing and possibly add a spacing washer or two if you suspect the nut has reached the end of its 'travel".
