Restringing this 2018 Fender Jazz Bass for first time.

There is no best. Those are both good sets. If you never change strings you’ll never know which you like best.
I like the Rotosound 66 set a lot on my 2014 Jazz Bass. I've never used the Black Beauty set, but I was less impressed with the sound of DR strings in general. (Didn't sound "bad" at all, actually quite good, just not my preference.)
But maybe you'd prefer the other way! Try both! And then try some more!

I love trying new types of strings so if it was me I would test the Black Beauties first (unless you have other basses for them).
However, if you already know you love Rotos you will probably end up with them in the end. Nothing sounds quite like Roto 66s. There's something unique going on in the mids with the 66s, even after they go "dead" (which, like it or not, they will do relatively fast). Personally I loved their mellow, broken in tone but if you're loving them for the bright zing there might be better (or at least longer lasting) options.

Good point... I missed the part about those Rotos being nickel. So, the ones with the red silk must be the old ones, which look to me like GHS Boomers.
4-year-old strings can't have any life left in them. I guess there are some people who go for that sound though.
If those ones with the red silk are the old ones that are being replaced, they're not the original factory strings. So, they can be less than 4 yrs old.
I asked for before and after pics, but you've been generous enough to provide the in-between one as well. Cool!
