Returning member, after a long hiatus

Hey all,

I first joined TB ~2010-2012, and then took a long break from posting.

At the time, I was a brand new bassist. I was working on a homebuilt 4 string steam-arched plywood/washtub monstrosity, which served me in my early folk and singer songwriter style gigs. The forums were great for learning luthier tips, and joking around.

A few years later, I bought a used plywood bass, and eventually broke though some plateaus by learning better techniques, and have gotten to gig with some wonderful musicians, especially in the golden age tango genre.

Now, every day I feel like a slightly better prepared and more receptive beginning student, and the future of musical progress looks less daunting.

Returning to these forums, it's wonderful to see some old familiar faces (and sad to see that some old favorites have completed their time on this planet), with enhanced appreciation for the names that I recognize now from other contexts -- so many amazing teachers and performers are here!

To all beginners: may this be the start of a beautiful and ever deepening life long relationship.

Ben
