Reverend Thundergun Vs Mercalli

Aside from the set neck vs the bolt on and the difference in pickguard shapes, the only other difference I noted was that the Thundergun has the angled back headstock (i.e. no string tree) vs the standard straight headstock on the Mercalli. Now I have no idea if that makes a difference in tone but maybe more of a personal preference thing. Either case, that pic of the Thundergun above is sweet.
 
I haven’t voted because I’ve never played a Thundergun. I’m the proud owner of a Mercalli 4 which I love and I’m in line for a Mercalli 5. I love the look of the Thundergun but given the pickups are the same I’m assuming the sound will be near identical. I have a Decision P too and I just don’t think you can go wrong with any Reverend. Superb instruments. Just superb.
