Reverse polarity question

My diamond bass compressor came with a 18v tip possitive adaptor and a red reverse cable in case I want to use it with a different power supply. The question is if I use this cable with the included adaptor will it result a 18v tip negative or it only reverses polarity from negative to positive? (I would like to test a tip negative pedal in 18v - Empress para EQ but I want to be sure that I won't fry it)

I don't think you should use that adapter cable with your ParaEQ! Reverse voltage is probably not good for it!

If you do find an appropriate 18volt, center negative supply you want to try with it, make sure to switch the internal dip switch in the ParaEQ to the 18volt setting before you connect the power.

I doubt that red cable automatically doubles voltage, unless it has 2 connectors on one end, and a single connector on the other end (3 connectors total).

Thanks for your reply scotch.

I wasn't going to use a 9v adapter C- with the reverse polatity cable, but a 18v C+

I now used a voltometer and I confirmed that the red cable indeed changes the polarity so the Bass compresor tip positive 18v adapter becomes 18v tip negative. I'll test it with the ParaEQ then after I ofcourse switch the internal switch to the 18-24v range.

Get ready for a frying pedal post :eek::ninja:

If the red cable switches the polarity to centre/tip negative and the ParaEq needs centre negative I can't see the problem.

Just don't use it on a daisy chain with other pedals, such as the compressor, that can lead to shorting problems and possibly damaged pedals.

You do not need to buy a new power supply unit to use a positive tipped pedal on a, for example, Boss PSA or an output on a PP2+..... you just need the converter. The one that comes with the Godlyke power-all looks like this

However, do not use it on a daisy chain with typical powered pedals, like a Boss DS-1. The serial connection does not like powering both positive and negative tipped pedals. Using an isolated power supply, like an output on the PP2+, poses no problem

It's a good idea to read the original post first ;)

to the OP:
the cable will just switch polarity, DC. So yes, if you have a + tip, you can turn it to - tip with the adaptor, and viceversa.

It only changes polarity, nothing else, so it will work for your purposes (using a 18V + tip power pack for a pedal requiring 18V - tip)
