Looking for a 5-string P/J pickup/preamp configuration to use in an alder J or P body with a rosewood fingerboard to deliver a fat, warm vintage vibe. Big, punchy, and not too loose in the booty. My favorite contender is a Nordstrand NP5 in the neck position and Big Split 5 in the bridge position paired with an Audere JZ3D (J body) or 3ZB (P body). Would these be a good match?
I considered a JJ configuration but really like that P-bass thump and thought the PJ arrangement might provide the best of both. The Nordy Fat Stack is a wonderful pickup but I'd like a big single coil sound for the bridge and thought the new Big Split would have a better output match with the NP5 (and no hum). I've heard the Audere preamps seem to let the sound of wood, pickups, and players touch really come through. JZ3D or 3ZB model with impedance switching and active/passive option should provide great tonal flexibility.

Does 18V provide noticeably more drive and headroom or is 9V just fine? The Aguilar OBP-3 would also be an excellent candidate but I already have one in my Roscoe SKB3005 (love it) and wanted to try the Audere.
I'm leaning towards a reverse-P mounting arrangement as seen in some of the Sadowsky NYC revPJ5 models. A reverse mount for the NP5 would pick up the low strings closer to the bridge for a tighter B and the high strings closer to the neck for a fatter G. I've read that it provides a little more even response across the strings and reduces boominess of the low B.
I'd like to make sure I'm not misinformed and that my final spec will deliver the goods when going for build quotes. Is this a good setup for the sound I've described? Any informed comment or shared experience to get this right would be much appreciated.
