RevSound 2x12, 1st gen

Highly fortuitously, in 2017, I came into possession of this RevSound 2x12 cabinet.

I went to a seller’s home for a CL meet-up, to check out a Schroeder 1x12, but it had been dealt before I could get there. This seller had scads of stuff to sell. He said he was a sales rep, unloading his samples and demos before retiring to FLA. He was also a bass player.

I was disappointed about losing out on the Schroeder and pressed him on whether he had other cabs to move. After thinking on it, he brought out this cab that he said he was hoping to keep for himself, but selling it would help lighten his load.

I played through it and loved it, not knowing anything about the brand, but it was clearly a fine cab. It has been my top cab ever since.

I left feeling pretty satisfied. I went in ready to snag a 1x12, left with a 2x12 AND a better deal.

According to David Luke, the boss at RevSound, it is one of first of its type he ever made, in 2012. 47 lbs. (36 lbs now, with different drivers and porting) Absolutely the best deal I ever made.

That’s great… I’m sure it sounds excellent. I have what is probably the first 210 cabinet David made. It may be close to 20 years old and is bright yellow. David is a master builder and designer.

I've been gigging a 212 for a decade. Best option in the price range.

I have what David said was his first V2 of his 110 cab. My wife picked tweed with Cane front. It’s awesome! I have always hoped to need a 2/8 or some other cab to pair it with but no need so far, sadly lol….

I've had a current-generation RS212 for about a year and half now, and continue to love it. One of the best deals out there, IMO.

My impression is that Revsound as a whole is pretty similar in philosophy to the Barefaced 12 inch, flatter response line of cabs. Only made in the USA (less expensive on this side of the pond) and with a much greater variety of speaker configurations.

I currently have both a 210 and 28 Revsound cab...great stuff. I compare them to cabs I always thought of as "uncolored" before, but suddenly the Revsound makes them sound quite colored. Yet the Revsound is still satisfying and not at all sterile. Whether that's good or bad, is up to personal taste.

Totally agree. IME the RS212 puts out what you put in, and that seems to be a design philosophy of David's that applies to all his cabs. The differences in sound between my different basses comes through much more consistently through this cab than my prior ones. And I agree, it's not uncolored as in sterile or boring, unless you are putting sterile or boring tone into it. The other thing I really appreciate is that the tone stays consistent from lower volumes to higher ones; it doesn't sound thin at low volumes or overwhelmed/breaking up at high volumes, the tone stays consistent from home practice to gigs.
