[One Drop]

To me that is the coolest HB ever made, and it's rarity doesn't hurt.

I played one once, and though the tone was very good I'm glad I didn't like it better as I'd be suffering some extreme GAS for one.

Crying shame that, still it makes sense.
It's kind of nice to have something to shoot for though. I always loved Mani's sound on The Stone Roses which was one of the few times I've actually heard instead of drooled over a 4005.

God I wish John Hall would let those beauties go back into production...but from what I've heard, there's no hope of that ever happening

Are Ricks cool for fingerstyle playing? Most guys I see playing them seem to use picks.

I gotta get my hands on one and try one. I actually didn't know you could get such an old-school fat tone from a Rick like in that video. Most players I have heard with those basses go for the gnarly sound you can get from em.

And the prices make me wonder how a street kid like Mani ever afforded a bass like that then had the balls to throw paint all over it:

I play with fingers and yep, it's great for that.
You do lose a little of the traditional Rickie high-mid edginess but it's still grand.

I NEVER use a pick on any of my Rics and believe me, there is still plenty of edginess...

Since I've recently purchased a Jack Casady bass, I've got a soft spot for hollowbody's, and this one must be my new dream bass.
Like everyone I can't dream to buy a bass that expensive.

So the reason to revive this thread: are there any good alternatives/copies to consider?
