Ric consistency

Some guys on rickresource.com feel it's #3. Here is an excerpt from a Invalid Link Removedthread. Scroll down and there is an Invalid Link Removed of actual girth and front to back measurements of different Ric necks. The thickest at the first fret was a '05 4003 at .984" and thinnest was a '63 4001 at .830. That data was collected before the '06s came out but they are around the .920 range.

In my opinion, B.F.D!:hmm: Put down the Ric and pick up any P Bass and then tell me the Ric has a fat neck, jeez!

My conclusion is: There has been no revolution in RIC land. A RIC is still a RIC, basically - despite a fancy new switch, some adjustable polepieces and a slightly chunkier neck - a RIC is a RIC, no big deal...

Based on this: There won't be a fenderish pre and post (CBS) in RIC land.

The biggest thing that killed Fender value wasn't the CBS acquisition, it's the huge production and all the freakin clones.

Look at what happened to the G&L L2000. A phenomenal bass. Tributes really impacted the resale value of the Made in Fullerton axes. Same with Stingrays and OLPs. I know you don't buy a bass for its investment potential, you buy it for its sound and playability. But I'm a capitalist pig. It's still sad when the saturated market dilutes value.

I'm going to take quite a hit on my JB when my Ric comes in.
A guy can barely get $650 for a clean one on the bay lately. :rolleyes:

You'll never lose on a Ric. Good sound, good quality, great value!
