Both Chris and Geddy have recorded bunches of songs with 5 and 6 string basses,plus Chris has a custom 4 string Tobias bass that has an extended lower range. You mean your band doesn't wanna cover "big generator"?


By the way,another vote for a nice 5 string Carvin! (If ya go the 5-er route)
As for the RIC,if you played a 4003 at the store,you owe it yourself to check out a 4004,which ergonomically is a much more comfortably playing bass.

Personally, I'd say 5 string Ibanez. Get Prestige line stuff and you'll probably still have cash for more stuff instead of getting a Ric (which I hear are their own sound, good or bad). Ibbys are quite versatile, and affordable!

For the record this is exactly how my wife chooses to answer either/or questions.
