Rickenbacker 4003 Pickguard Removal

My point on the new pickguard was to preserve the signature and still allow the bass to be played. Marker on a pickguard is hardly permanent. And to keep the signature in place, one would have to stop playing the bass.

For me, that would be unnaceptable to not be able to touch one of my basses. Unless it is a bass one hates, but then why have someone sign a sucky bass? And I would not take my favorite player out of commision like that. And if you have him sign a favorite player and then play it and wipe out the signature, what was the point of getting it signed?

Anyway, that was my line of thought.

In regards to saving your favorite Bassist's signature on a pickguard, buy a new pickguard & have it signed, then clearcoat with a gloss finish spray covering...Then you could use it on your Bass, display it, or whatever you decide & not lose the signature..
