Red Hot Chili Peppers:Throw away Your Television

So far I Feel As Though
Marucs Better Slap/Pop
Marcus requires batteries to get the value of the tone
Ric is better with a pick

I have an epiphone thunderbird that I love the feel yet hate the tone so I'am wondering what one feels physically more like it

arg i really wish I could make up my mind Iam pretty set on these two though so what ever one I do not get I will get in the next year or so. I guess I should base my choice on songs we are working on now because as it seems the marcus is better for jazz/blues/Funk (fenders do rock at it) and the ric is better for Rock/Alternative but what about in between?

A. Toss up
b. MM
C. MM (but the rick would be fine)
D. MM (or the collgege of cardinals).

They are pretty different beasts, both cool in their own way. My main slapping gripe with the rics is ergonomic. THe covers get in the way. I guess you could take them off. Come to think of it, the MM comes with covers too, which to me, need to go if you are going to slap (one of the ones I played already had them removed)

Try another store. Also,let them know that you are a serious buyer. I can understand a shop keeping good stuff out of everybody's mitts to keep them from getting beat up, but it is unreasonable to keep them away from real potential buyers.

these are my opinions. i only own a Ric, but, judging from what i know about the Marcus, i have come to these conclusions
1.Rickenbacker-i have never gotten so much tone difference from flipping the pup switch EVER. even with the same settings on the knobs.
2.Marcus-The Ric has a pup cover that affects where and how you can slap. so does the Marcus, but the Marcus has more real estate between the cover and the neck
3.Depends on what you feel-i dont do blues much, but i normally just turn the tone knob all the way down and overdrive the amp a little bit
4.See 2.

I'm with the concensus on all but question A. If you mean versatility then the MM is leagues beyond a Rick. But if you're talking just better all around tone, construction, etc, I'd say the Rick has it beat.

And question B. and D. are pretty silly if you think about it. The Marcus Miller bass was designed for Marcus Miller who is a slapping and popping god who plays rhythmn & blues...which would make question C. pretty silly as well!

Yea I feel pretty Dumb lol but I was just trying to see if you can slap on a ric lol
