    I bought a Rickenbacker 4001 new at a store in September. Apparently the store had had the bass for several years. I know that it is a 4001 but I want to know exactly what model it is. It looks exactly like a 4001v63 but how would I know for sure? Does the serial number shed any light on the model type. Please help! My bass looks like this;

    You're right, the newer C64--designed to be a replica of McCartney's Rick--has an upside down headstock. The v63's have normal headstocks.

    Great score! I've love to pick up a 4001v63 one of these days...
