Rickenbacker question....

I have played my 4003 (2010) through (2) tube heads and (2) 810 cabs with a stereo ricky sound box. It does sound great but for me it is not practical. All in all being a new Rick owner, I am blown away at how great the bass is. I did some modest recording ( a Zoom HD4n) and it sounded fine. While the stereo aspect of the Ric is great to have on a day to day basis, just plugging in into the standard input is enough for me.

You can get just as good results by simply splitting the mono signal. Geddy splits his mono signal 3 ways. I split mine 4 ways. By running amps and or effects parallel instead of series you can blend different sounds together.

None of my Rics have Ric-o-sound. But if I were to use it I would run the neck pickup into a claen amp with a good low end, and I would run the bridge pickup into a dirty amp for a distorted mid and high end.

But having to bring 2 amps can be cumbersome. So I run parallel effects and blend that into one signal and one amp.
