I think it's cool that he plays his signature bass... that's very honorable of him to not get some custom-shop fender that looks the same but has upgraded everything, etc.

He paid $269 which was the marked price since all our Fender/Squire gear was %10 off. And he bought a sale cable, picks (orange tortex .60s), and a print of a photo of Bob Dylan playing bass.
This may be the manliest sport in history.
Cool story too. I'm not a huge FOB fan, but it's nice to see he's using what he's pushing.
Sweet story. Did you get his autograph? I don't know why Pete and FOB get so much hate on here. I had never listened to them until a few months ago, and I think they sound pretty good. Seem like skilled enough musicians to me.

i like this story. i especially like that pete bought a picture of bob dylan, lol. (and i'm guessing the famous one of him with the jazz bass in a recording studio?)

Wentz is a total hack that does the bare minimum required to keep his gig behind a very talented singer/writer/frontman. That being said, when I met him at the NAMM show a few years ago he was a very nice young man.
What an awesome story. He came to Australia recently and did some interviews and sat on a news/current affairs/comedy panel and seemed like a pretty intelligent, down to earth guy. The fact that he bought his own signature bass is nice.
On the topic of Pete Wentz-hating, this is reminds me of Mark Hoppus-hating. Seriously children, this is pop-punk, not freakin' symphonic progressive-jazzcore; Wentz does what fits the music and does it well. Oh, and makes more money doing it than any of you. Said in the nicest way possible of course!

My Ear Training teacher Paul Stiller worked at a music store roughly 20 years ago. As soon as all the other employees leave on their lunch breaks, Mick Jagger and the rest of the Stones walk in and buy $20,000 worth of gear. My teacher didn't say anything while they were shopping, but when Mick handed him his credit card, Paul said he would need to see his I.D.

That is very M.C. Escheresque! I've never heard Fall Out Boy music but that's an awesome story!
Well, I'm certainly no expert on the whole signature guitar business model, but my gut tells me it's a little strange that Pete lends his name, FWIW, to Fender and they still make him buy his bass from them (with a dealer mark-up). That deal sucks.
