Rig pretty much done........(Eclipse content!)

Has taken me a while but have had the chance to get some photos of my recently completed rig. Only been able to gig it all once so far, so an in-depth review still to follow.

Rack as follows:
Furman Power Conditioner
Eventide Eclipse
Aguilar AG500SC

Pedalboard (obvious to spot for most TB'ers ;)):
Ernie Ball Jr. Volume
Strobostomp2 Tuner
Demeter Compulator
Aguilar ToneHammer
Dunlop 105Q Wah (To be replaced soon)
Burkey Flatliner 6 underneath for Power

Sounds FANTASTIC so far! Just doing some fine tuning for the levels on the Eclipse but nearly there. Only wanting to add a high quality 6x10 cab, replace the Wah, add a small midi footswicher and I'm done ;). Though I still kinda wanna keep my Whammy IV in the rig.................

Daniel Tulip made the latest thread for that here: http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showthread.php?t=483564

Cheers mate, I know about that thread, but as that's for Pedalboards not rack gear I'd be burned at the stake there! ;)
Did my research before posting and have had a few requests for info on the Eclipse, as there is very little info on Bass players using it, hence the creation of a new thread!

Nice setup! What do you plan on replacing the 105Q with? And how do you like the overdrive on the Tone Hammer?

Hi Mark,

The Tone Hammer is good but still gotta see if I can get it to sound 'great'. Have been really tempted to pick up a Box of Rock to see if that works better for me after hearing your clips and trying one out in-store quickly. Kind of wish I'd kept hold of my BB pre-amp as I found I don't really need the D.I. or E.Q. functions of the Tone Hammer and the O.D. sounds could get 'similar', with the BB being a little more transparent.

As for the Wah, I've also been tempted by the Wilson (thanks to your threads again!:))along with the Fulltone Clyde deluxe. Still hoping for a clear winner to appear!

That BB is a really cool pedal too, yeah. I really liked it except with my gear and stuff it didn't quite have the bite I wanted on my low E string. Otherwise it sounded fantastic. The Box of Rock is of course my favorite, but it sounds a lot better with a pick than fingerstyle with some of my basses, and the BB might be a better choice in general for fingerstyle playing I think.

I know I did some distorted clips of the Wilson Wah but I've actually been getting some great sounds with it clean too. It does have a real classic vibe and can sound really musical, I think it's much better suited to rock than the 105Q, which is pretty funky in my opinion. I'm also curious about that new Freaker Wah from Wilson Effects. If I can get the money together I'd like to give that one a try too, though I am pretty happy with the bass Q wah.

Andy, nicely done. Have you thought about using a midi-controlled router for your handful of non-Eclipse effects? You'd probably have to change up to a 6U rack at least. How do you find the GUI and overall ergonomics of the Eclipse?

Cool rig, man. Where is the Eclipse situated in your chain (amp's fx loop?) and are you using a midi controller to change patches?

Do tell!

Cheers Mr. Pickles! The Eclipse is running in the effects loop of the Aguilar. Luckily there is enough clearance between the rack units to allow the cables to pass under the AG500 and into the front send/returns without routing cables around the case.

Apparently you can send a mono input into the Eclipse but it always sends the outputs out in stereo, so I had a special 2x XLR into standard jack cable made to send the stereo input into a mono channel with the maximum possible db level. Isn't the same as getting the true stereo sound but saves on buying new amps/cabs etc. just to get 'spacey!:) .......didn't know about any of this kind of stuff until I ordered it! haha!

Haven't decided on which Midi controller yet, but have seen some excellent and reasonable ones from Axess and RJM Music, though I may keep it simple with just a Midi mouse initially and take it from there.

Cheers Grovest! Have thought about it, but still want to keep the weight and size of the rack down right now. Still gotta check if it will all fit in the back of our Fiat Cinquecento as it is!:hiding:

If things kick off more with touring again or we buy a larger car I'll be straight into the router you mention. Have been looking at the 'Huge Racks' thread on one of the other forums for ideas and can't believe how much stuff some of the guitarists are running in theirs! Luckily, us Bassists know how to get a great sound with a lot less! :smug:

As for the Eclipse, the UI is straight forwards for the low level tasks I've been attempting currently (am gonna try programming from scratch later this weekend) and though it's might not be as simple as maybe a Boss GT10B (for programming), the large manual does explain everything in a slightly humourous technical way. Also, support on the Eventide Forum seems to be pretty good if you are stuck or want something added to the Eclipse in future. For scrolling through the 400 presets it's all simple but mind boggling what sounds it can create!

As just mentioned in the above post, the Midi Controller is to follow after more research as I've never touched Midi in my life yet!

Very nice Andy. Get yourself a Silvermachine Wah :)

Haha! Was REALLY looking into that one a few months ago! Just couldn't find a single (or married;)) soundclip on Bass or find one in a shop. Have you tried this one out at all Toasted?

Just find the 105Q to sound more Squelchy/Envelope Filterish instead of Wah'ish.
Though I should experiment with the Wah settings in the Eventide before buying any new additions..........
