Right sounds for certain venue

So when are group plays in certain venues specifically the convention center in San Diego the bass isn't as clear as i want it to be or anyone else. I was wondering if someone can help me solve this technical issue. I have 8x10 SWR for the cab and a 750x SWR head. We plug into a mackie and the subs and voice speakers we use are all JBL's. So is there anyway i can fix this in the fixer or what do i have to do in order to hear the mid and the high clear enough in the venue? When i play its mostly just the lows you can hear and if you want to like jam out you can barley hear the mids and highs that i play.

Room acoustics can be a pain. Try running your bass through the PA and cutting the lows in that channel.

Get a decent parametric eq, I have one of these:

Now I can get the clarity I need in any room.

Room acoustics can be a pain. Try running your bass through the PA and cutting the lows in that channel.

Yep… some rooms sound completely different from others, even with everything EQed and set up the same.

One particular room I’d fuss with the knobs for half the first set trying to dial in something I could stand.

nothing a good sound guy can't do with proper gear.

are your jbl's active? if thats the case, they to not carry very well in the 90-250Hz range... ya know where alot of bass guitar is. A parametric EQ like others have mentioned can help you quite a bit. Your mackie probably has a 3 band EQ? use the mids to boost around 120-150ish and see if that helps.

This is so simple to understand. If all you hear is bass, turning up your mids and hi's is just plain pissing on your own shoes. Can't get note definition on stage? Turn the damn low frequencies down! Do not boost the mids and hi end, turn the bass down. In a large room like a convention hall with high ceilings and concrete or tile floors, the more low frequency energy you introduce into the room, the more problems you can have with intelligibility,l or note definition.

A good or bad sound guy cannot fix your problem, but you can by turning down the low end on your stage rig.
