I have a trusty old reissue Ibanez TS 808 which suffers the usual bass
light performance so if I change the clipping diode feed cap from the standard 0.047 Uf:

what oh doyens of the church of pedal mods do you suggest for best bass gtr performance, Keeley say 0.1uf but that might suit guitards
more than bass players, also the resistor feeding it that keeley change from 4.7k to 2.4K to increase gain while changing the resistor in series with the drive pot from 51K to 20K, Is it a good idea for bass as I dont want tons of distortion for bass.
I have already changed the OP amp from the stock JRC4558D to a selected very low noise RC4558DN (Smooth!) and the 0.22uf tantalum in series with the pot wiper for a metalized polyprop 0.1uf, is finding a rare 0.18uf as keeley do really going to improve the tone pot much from where I am now?. I am thinking of trying to fit a ts 808 to ts 9 cap and resistor DPDT change over switch as well. Is a true bypass switch really that much of an advantage with this design?.
I did a search but was surprised not to find very much about this.:bassist:

Sounds cool. I think the main reason for not finding much about this is because they're a lot of bass ready tubescreamer clones out on the market... unless someone already has a ts.. it wouldnt make much sense buying a ts and then modding it.

The eighties are only like last week to me, its yesterday I cant remember now.:bassist:

I am soooo with you on that one ;) I must have bought and sold a dozen TS9 & TS10 back in the day. I always ended up jamming with guitarists with DOD or Boss 'can of bees being cut with a circular saw' dirt boxes... I'd let them try my TS9/TS10, they'd offer me the going new price for it, I'd run to the city and buy a new one.
