Found out this morning via posts on his FB page. I think he'd had some health problems in the past but I'm not sure if they're relevant to his passing. A great talent - I had hoped to meet him in person one day. Anthony Joyner
I hate to see this! He used to be a salesman at Rock Block Guitars, dude probably made a mint in commissions selling me basses during the early and mid Nineties. If I remember correctly, his other gig, at that time, was as Faith Hill’s touring bassist. He was also the first bassist I saw double thumb and play triplets.
Yep, I heard all about his Rock Block days but never had the pleasure of meeting him, even though I spent quite a bit of time in Nashville and used to hit all the gear shops. I had been FB friends with him for a years and had always hoped we'd meet someday. He had a hell of a resume and a masters in performance/education from Belmont (which I didn't know until after he passed). Such a loss.
Yep, Faith Hill was one of the many artists he backed up, and perhaps the highest profile. He's in the video for "Let's Go To Vegas" playing a badass, one-off baby blue Tobias 5 with a 2Tek bridge. It made it's way through the TB classifieds at least once - I wonder where it is now. I'm pretty sure he played on that album (It Matters To Me), and maybe some others of hers but I'm not 100% sure.
