    That’s sad, I had no idea he was still alive. I wonder if it was he that came up with what I call the ‘tug’ riff, sliding up to the root from a half-step below, also heard in the intro of this other Eddie classic…

    If so, he was quietly influential on a large scale; it may be the dumbest little figure, but it moved through Duane Eddy and surf music, on to punk and elsewhere, part of the greater bass playing vocabulary.

    if it's Guybo telling it, then he did lol the words ''Eddie couldn't do without me'' are on his headstone.
