Bummer…not a flash player but tasty and supportive, anchoring all the guitar explorations of Verlaine and Lloyd/Rip. I’ve been a longtime fan, initially seeing them open for Peter Gabriel, several times after that(plus Verlaine on his own), then the final encounter at a festival a little more than 40 years after the first. Otherwise, I saw Fred backing a honky-tonk/rockabilly singer, Kristy Rose, back in the 80’s. He was the original Blondie bassist.

...and quit supposedly because he thought Blondie wasn't going anywhere but that Television was. Probably not a great call in terms of fame and fortune, but didn't keep him from participating in some truly great music.
RIP.....I recall reading about Television in some of the 70s rock magazines and when I bought Marquee Moon is was floored!
I can easily pickup Fred's bass lines in my mind right now...so simple but some how it all weaved together beautifully.
