RIP Martin Birch

Today afternoon, news reach me - Martin Birch has died.

Without him, we might never have music as we know it, especially Deep Purple (11 albums), Fletwood Mac (early) and couple of heavy hitters later on.
I want to share here that bad news. I am sure, most of you know who he was. If you don't know, check him out.

Thankful to the rest of my life for his sound vision.

Tony Iommi's Birch SGs come to mind firstly for me.

He was an ace for getting great guitar sounds; besides the obvious stuff, he engineered a few of my favorite albums, Fleetwood Mac’s Then Play On and Kiln House, Jeff Beck’s Beckola, The Faces’ Long Player, and Wishbone Ash’s Argus, all of which are very different sonically.

RIP Martin, you will be sadly missed.

One of the great engineers of the late 60's into the 70's, his name is on a lot of albums I still listen to and they still sound awesome.
