Roadready bass case?

Does anyone here have one of these? I'm especially interested in hearing from Stingray and Stingray 5 owners, but if anyone has experience with this case, I'm all ears.

I'm looking to get one for my Stingray 5. The blurb says they're designed for Fender J and P style basses so I'm not 100% sure my SR5 will fit snugly? Can someone give a better description of how the "adjustable strips" work to keep the bass from moving around inside the case?

A few of you have asked for my opinion of this case via Email and PM, so I may as well post a review here where everyone can benefit from it:-

My roadies have been carting it around and so far, it’s performed well. I can’t fault it on the outside. It seems to be well made. As you’d expect, it’s not as tough as my guitarist’s metal flight case, but it’s tough enough that you’d have to try pretty darn hard to break it. It certainly offers more protection that the plastic moulded case that came with my Stingray 5 which eventually fell apart. 10/10 for the outside.

The inside could be better. The bass is held in place with a foam block and 2 strips which are covered in the same red velvety material as the rest of the case. They attach to the interior of the case with Velcro. The idea is you position them yourself in a manner which will stop your bass moving around inside the case. The 2 smaller strips adjust for the width of the bass body to stop it moving side to side, and there’s one larger block that sits near the horn of the bottom cut-away of your bass to stop it moving up and down. It works but…..I dunno….. it’s not as effective as a proper moulded foam interior like you get with tailor-made flight cases. I guess why they cost twice as much as the roadready

I found I had to attach more Velcro to the side of the case. I’ve got the bass sitting in there nicely, but it took a bit of mucking around, and I’m not sure how long the adhesive on my additional Velcro will hold. It won’t hold long if I’m continually removing and reattaching the foam blocks, so I try to leave them alone. I’m also considering buying some foam and making my own moulded insert, but I haven’t got around to that yet.

The saving grace is that when the lid is closed, it puts further pressure on the surface of the bass, further helping to stop it moving around.

All in all, it’s a pretty good case and good value for money. The roadies haven’t been able to damage it yet, and the bass is still in perfect condition. But next time, I’ll probably pay the extra and get a case specially made.
