Rockoon Kawai Fretless bass?

I haven't, but my suspicion has been that the '90s Fernandes APB and Revolver basses were essentially rebadged Rockoons. (Maybe someone who knows better than me can confirm or deny.) I've had a couple of those and they're fantastic if you're into "modern" skinny necks and flat fretboards.

I actually just played one yesterday. Saw it at a local shop. Rb85jj model in natural. I don't play fretless usually but…this played and sounded really good. Thinner jazz style neck, USA ash body, schaller pickups and hardware. Really played and sounded great. Got a variety of tones out of it. The only detriment was it was kinda heavy due to the ash body. Reminded me of a Ibanez sr1000e I had a couple of years ago.
If the shop still has it on Friday…..gonna buy it…..124usd….:gotta love Japanese shop deals on vintage Japanese basses.

I have a 1992 Rockoon by Kawai Fretless bass - beautiful instrument, plays and sounds unbelievable. I have owned over 25 different basses over the years and this guy rates at the top

I have a pair of Kawai basses, one similar to the one in post 4 and an FIIB.

Great basses and there's a similar 5 available not far away but asking too much and won't budge. Plus I don't need another 5.

What's a reasonable price for a 5-string version of these? And are all fretless versions unlined? Also how do you tell which year it was made in - is there a serial/stamp somewhere on the heel or neck pocket?
