Rogue LX205B for first 5 string??

Thoughts? MF has them on sale for $109.
(Not much goog used in $$ my area) Prefer comments from those that have experience with it.

Granddaughter (14) is doing great with a Squier P. She wants a 5 string ( or my Hofner) for X-mas. "Santa" already has an amp under the tree, so budget is everything.

Thanks, 8 grandkids keep me equipment poor and broke.

I have one I just bought used for $89, in almost perfect shape. I didn't need it, but, since I could return it for a full refund, I said, "Why not?".
My findings:
I gave it a full setup. 2/3rds of a turn on the truss rod (in small increments), filed the nut on the E and A strings, set pickup heights, set intonation, cleaned and waxed, sanded the back of the neck with 1,500-2000-3000 grit sand paper to make it like glass. (It sure needed it, the matte clear was lumpy).
The pickups are low output, but sound good. I found a video about putting a Tone Monster active preamp in one, it seems like a good idea.

If I didn't have two 5 stringers already, I'd keep this one.

YMMV, but they are good with some work, not so much fresh from the store.

If you are ok with putting some time towards better electronics and doing the finishing touches like filing the fret ends then it's a good starter. If you would rather have more quality off the bat then there are plenty of nicer options. Personally I'd advise you to look at Ibanez and the gsr205. It has a very similar neck to a precision bass but it's lightweight and a definite sleeper bass. I picked one up very cheap and am ready happy with it. It litterally changed my opinion on Ibanez basses. Plays nice and sounds great. They are around $250-300 new but you can find some used ones for much less. Best of luck and I hope you find something awesome for your little girl.
