Roland KC amps

I had a KC-350 for a long while. Mostly used it for keyboards, but clean bass works well too. Ultimately though, I went with a good pair of 8" studio monitors and a mixer for the synths, and a good old bass amp for bass. The KC series are super clean, not much use for any sort of bass tones- unless you use outboard gear like a bass pre, or some bass fx pedals.

Used one (older KC500) as my "Swiss Army Amp" for years. Used it for church a lot, ran a POD and an acoustic DI off a Parker Fly, with the XLRs to FOH. Great set up, if a bit oversized. Used as a vocal monitor, as a low volume bass amp, even lent it to a buddy to use as a PA for his very DIY wedding. If I was to do it over again, I'd probably get a proper powered PA speaker and a small out board mixer. Those 150 watts don't go very far against a drum set when you're running bass through it, and it bottoms out pretty quickly with bass drum sounds, IMO. Also had trouble with higher gain guitar sounds and the horn. But to be fair, its a fairly inexpensive unit, and survuved lord only knows how many services, gigs, jam sessions, and a car accident.

A few years back I had the big KC 15 inch amp, the 550 I believe. For home use. Fed it with a Boss multi-effects pedal. I didn't keep it. It just couldn't cope with an electric bass. Distortion, farting.. Not good.

This thing is bad-ass! The only problem I have is that it rattles everything in the room and freaks out my dog.

I spent about 2 hours with it tonight. It handles my low B perfectly.
