I have been using a Roland VT12 to practice my upright and have been pleasantly surprised how useful it has been. It's for vocal training, and my wife got mine for me as a gift. It has a metronome built-in, along with a tuner function. You can select a note, and let it drone on. It is really useful for practicing scales, and sure helps build your ear. A cool little device.
