The Stones announced a new album, "Hackmey Diamonds", to be dropped in October. 12 tracks, 2 with Charlie Watts from 2019. Probably means another tour on the horizon.

The Angry single is fun, but it's too bad the production sounds like they haven't really left the 80s (maybe it's because they're in their 80s?). The bass tone is wicked, though, wondering if Wyman played on that one.

The best Stones bass tracks were recorded with Keith playing a P bass circa '68 to '73.

So I heard 'Angry' a little while ago, and I liked it, but I kept thinking there was something strange about it that I couldn't put my finger on . . . . and then it came to me:

Modern Production.

Everything (even Keith's harmony singing ?!?!) was dead in tune, and Seiko perfect in time with a click track, no rush, no drag.

I'm not used to a Stones record tied to all these modern conveniences!

The drums are definitely stuck in the 80s, would have hit harder without, or at least less of, the reverb.
