Rondo Short Scale 5 String (Brice)

Ibanez is now making a 5-er Mikro: 28.6 scale.
Look at the forum, starting here http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f8/official-mikro-bass-club-part-2-a-818439/index18.html.

There's a fair amount of discussion, towards the last couple pages. This is a passive, to be sure! But has a very qualified B-string and well worth the investigation.

200 dollars - street price, matched everywhere - is a steal...

I haven't seen one of those in person.. I had only seen the ESP single pickup version, which I didn't care for. I'll check that one out. I prefer an active bass because I like the sound of EMG's but bartrs might be good too. I have a set of bart j's going to waste over here

Someday I am just going to replace the electronics in my Brice. But for now, it seems that compensating with the boost and compression settings on a Zoom B3 helps a lot!

I would *like* it to someday have about the same output as my Birdsong, so if something happens in the middle of a gig, I can just swap basses without doing a lot of eq fiddling. I know it's unlikely that would ever happen, but... Being prepared never hurts, right? ;)

Anyway, for now the pedal helps a lot. :)

Glad to see they are back in stock! I'm so tempted to get the 6 string every time I see them available... Just don't think I would end up using a 6 as much as the 5's.

I have had one of these for over a year, and am quite happy with it. I tune to E to C with Labella flats. Never did have much use for that low B. The active circuit is a bit noisy and I'm considering a transplant of either Aguilar or EMG pups and pots.

Here's what Rondo Music has for affordable 5-strings as of Xgiving 11/28/13:
