Hi! just joined
I'm finally getting serious about slappin da bass mon.
I grew up listening to Rush and Yes, and as a kid I didn't need any others, but after about 35 years of listening to music I have expanded my horizons A LOT. I'm 43 and picking it up as a hobby with the goal of playing in a bar band when I retire (I'm a football coach) in about 10 years.
I know very little but have bought a Fender jazz 24 fret, and a Hartke amp and so far have just gone to youtube to learn some songs that I like (and can handle) like Pumped Up Kicks, and Electric Feel.
I am starting to learn about the root, 3rd, and 5th's... but I really just stumbled onto that!
Anyways, you will probably see me on here asking what to you may be very bassic questions, but its the only way to get better! I will eventually look into getting a teacher but I'm not ready to yet.
Cheers!

Mate, I've been playing 30 years and still can't tell you anything technical. I've been about and gigged in various bands so... I probably do it but don't know. Chances are, if it sounds right it is. Sorted yourself out with some nice gear to by the sound of it so enjoy. You'll learn as you go. I still do. Playing with other people pushes you hard too.
