Roscoe Club

I just pulled the trigger on two builds today; fretted and fretless SKB Custom 5 strings. Couldn't pass up the opportunity and Keith has been absolutely fantastic to work with as usual.

Fretted SKB Custom 5: Ash body, Quilted maple top, light amber finish, Pau Ferro fretboard, Evo Gold frets, luminous side position dots, standard neck, standard Barts/pre, Diamondwood nut, black/gold hardware

Fretless SKB Custom 5: Ash body wings/flamed maple wedge core/flamed maple top, transparent black finish, unlined Diamondwood board, luminous side position dots, Bartolini J pickups in the narrow "sweet spot" position, Bart pre, Diamondwood nut, black hardware.

Now to start digging through the house to put any and everything I can find on Craigslist and/or Ebay.

There's going to two more basses and a wireless system in the classifieds here too!

So, what kind of attendance is expected at the mid-GA GTG in a couple of weeks?

I think around 10-12 are coming so far. Should be some really diverse gear there to check out too. Lot's of bass fellowship and of course we'll be serving up some of that world famous Georgia Bob BBQ! :woot::woot::woot:

And here's the info just in case you missed the earlier post:

The 2019 Middle Georgia Bass GTG is scheduled for Saturday April 27 in Warner Robins GA.
The hours will be 12:00-4:00 PM
There will be the traditional Georgia Bob's BBQ, chips and good ole Georgia Sweet tea (and Coke) and of course lots of great bass gear to check out.

Here's the address:

The Assembly @ Warner Robins GA
6040 Watson Blvd, Byron, GA 31008

If you need a hotel, choose one of these (make sure you choose one in close proximity to Watson Blvd (247 Connector):

Let us know it you're coming so we can make sure that we have plenty of food and drinks.

Awesome Matt!
You'll have to share some progress pics as things move along.

I used to have an YXZ quilted dipped in chocolate with clear sugar coating!

Off topic for just a moment, but man! That is a beautiful bass! I've always had a soft spot for Spector basses. For some reason (back during my boutique binge) I could never pull the trigger on one. Loved the contour back though;

Now back to the "the Roscoe new build queue is overflowing" topic ........

Also wanted to let you Roscoeheads know that Roscoe faithful JohnnyR is home recovering from fairly extensive back surgery. While he won't be able to attend our GTG he's allowing me to pickup his Signature bubinga 3006 fretless and bring it to the GTG.
I'm hoping that he'll still be doped up a bit when I pick it up and maybe he'll forgot that he gave it to me!

Man I love seeing you all getting new Basses. Gonna have to live vicariously through y’all. I just went out of work on disability so I’ll be going a few months with no income then probably a reduced income. The gas will have to get in check. I have 4 Roscoes and am very thankful to have them. As much as I’d like to be in that number I’m gonna have to just follow along and drool. Looking forward to updates and deliveries. :)

If he is smart about that, he’ll make you sign a contract, put down a heavy per-day Use Fee and offer a valid Master Card to hold until the 6’er is returned!!

That Spector is a nice looking one.
Had Spector basses for many years, awesome basses.
But I found Roscoe a few years ago and that was it!

Yeah, I've had a bunch of "keeper" basses over the years. Ken Smith, Sadowsky, Lakland, Modulus, etc. Sometimes I wish I would have stopped 25 years ago with a set of really nice G&L basses (L2500, L2000, L2000 fretless) I bought thru a local shop. I'd have 3 nice basses and a WHOLE LOT MORE money in my pocket. But, I wouldn't have had the opportunity to try a bunch of nice basses, and meet some great people. Not everything can be/is measured in dollars. While I could have made any of those basses "my bass" over the years, I'm glad I'm playing a Roscoe. I like everything about it and it covers all my gigs.

I sometimes wish I had a few basses, P, J, flats, etc. to choose from, but there's something to be said about just grabbing your bass that you know so well and heading out the door to play.

Now,I have some questions.(just curious)
Do any of you have a “back up” bass for your Roscoe? And what is it?
For example I have one (Cort A5) that I mostly use for practices at church and or practice/service at other churches.
No back up. If I gig out of town I bring my G&L JB-2 Tribute jazz bass. It's a nice enough bass for what it is. Nothing would back up my Roscoe except anther Roscoe. I think my G&L would sound better if I ran it into a preamp of some kind, like a new YYZ pedal, but that's another thread...

The backup for my #1 player fretless 6 is a fretted 5; the backup for that is a fretted 7.
I have never needed a backup, but I bring one to every paid gig. Informal jams, no... Rehearsals - sometimes...
