I honestly can’t understand how they even make a profit !
$450 is retail, buying wholesale will be much cheaper. Probably less than used prices.

If the CV was a trade-in, it might have been as little as $200 - $250. There's no aging of the hardware so the "relic" is just scratch and stain. With a $5 decal there's plenty profit from $600

sorry to bring back a zombie thread, but since this is one of the first results on google, I want to set a couple things straight.
  • these are not made by Music Villa. they simply sell them.
  • this Paul Rose is not from England. I don't know who that other guy is, but these are made right here in Montana.
  • He, not She
  • the "Roxanne" (Sting) bass is more expensive than other models because he actually does age the hardware with acid, and spends a LOT of time working on the aesthetics and how much poly to remove to make it sound right.
  • as far as I'm aware Rose isn't an AD for anything, so he's not buying them at cost. which does make the prices rather remarkable, when labor is factored in.
basically, what Roseworn does is buy cheap instruments and does wild modifications to them. sometimes it's just paint, sometimes it's way more. the reason that Sting bass is "sold out" is because he modifies each instrument one at a time - no "production" line. I've yet to meet him in person, but by looking at his output this seems to be a passion project, not a career. I highly recommend checking out his Music Villa profile page. I especially love the Erasercaster.

I know this because he made one of my favorite guitars, "[Invalid or Expired Link Removed]," a baritone that started life out as a Bronco bass. it almost seems silly, but once it's in your hands it's an absolute riot.

he definitely employs a DIY aesthetic, which really appeals to me. but he does it with the ability to assemble and set up a really fantastic instrument.

(oh, and for about $2,000 cheaper than a Nash. but that's apples and oranges, really.)

Yeah, it's supposed to be a play on words.
Everyone's getting into the act.
Rogue has their budget relic Rogueworn, and there's even a company that makes couch basses called Robeworn...they come with a pair of slippers and a pipe.
Other than that, for anyone who wants a relic'd bass, how can you go wrong with this?
