Rotosound "Piano" Strings

i bought my first set of these strings a few weeks ago and have tried them a couple of times. i play a fender precision bass with an ampeg svt-cl/610-setup, and the sound is awesome.

i really like the extreme brightness and sustain from these strings. kind of reminds of john entwistle's sound that can be heard on his live recordings (listen to Baba O'Riley (Live At Shepperton Film Studios) on the "The Kids Are Alright"-album by The Who). i think he played with the Rotosound Swing Bass-strings,which i think the P.S.D-set is based on.

the instructions are actually pretty helpful inside. Just be careful when you're wrapping the core wire around the ball, so when the string is in your bridge there isnt any wire sticking up to rip your hand up...(if that applies to your bridge set-up) you'll see. let us know!
good luck!! time for me to actually order another set! ;)

My bridge can be done with string through body option (my preference) or old school bridge style. Can I still do this through the body? I can't picture in my head how that would work!?

Also, what is your review of the strings?

interesting reason why you all like these rotosounds - the piano sound. i had been using markley blue steel ss strings & loved them, tried dr hi-beam ss because of the 15 positive reviews on talkbass. i am reviewer # 16 on these strings. my comments for pros - full piano like sound, my comment negs - i want my bass to sound like a bass - not a piano! in other words, whatever you do, buy 1 set to see if you really like them. all the wonderful reviews in the world are only helpful, but there's nothing like trying something out first just don't buy 6 sets because they're on sale when you haven't tried them.

 The piano aspect is only refering to the "wide open" sound that a piano gets in those lovely low strings. Wonderful full spectrum of sound choices. If you want the 'ol tubby sound ya pretty much roll off that tone knob and presto!

I dont think they will work on the trough body being that those ball ends are a bit larger than the standard end. and they wouldn't fit in those holes...

I love these strings. The life-span of them wasn't bad at all ( and I beat the hell outta mine). they can get a nice sizzle if you dial it in. very solid/tight low end.

Also be prepared to raise your action a bit due to the strings now crossing over the bridge on the core of the string. I lucked out and didn't even have to touch mine..sweet low action, I can just dance on these things now...:bassist:

I've never had to install them before, so this thing about having to wind the ball end on sounds quite irritating. However, I've played basses strung with them and they just sound amazing, so percussive and bright. I love them! I might have to get a set myself one day!

Thanks :bassist:

That link is way helpful with a picture and all. I can't figure out how he strung it through the bass body and onto the bridge??

I am going to just go the bridge route this time. His advice on 1/2 inch over 1/4 inch is the stuff I wanted to hear.

I like to experiment with all different strings, so I only bought one pack as a test.

I am not looking for a Piano Sounding Bass. :) I am just looking for a articulate sting to make my P sound a bit more aggressive.

I tend to like Nickel, so I have to see how they feel on my hands as well. They were only $18.00 or so from [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] . They were backordered adn took a little more time to get here, but they are not out of touch in price department.
