Rotosounds....

i used rotos when i 1st started playing, as they are/were the only stainless set i could get at the time and being allergic to nickel i didnt have much choice :P

i hated them, they would seem to drop in tension a lot (i was putting them on right, not kinking or twisting the string, bending before cutting and winding tight and low), and never lasted too long.

now i use status graphite hot wires or DR's. i have had the same strings on my B2 since i got it over a year ago and only lost a little in the zing front.

I used to use SwingBass but stopped when the quality seemed to drop off... I since have gone the DR route, but I have fond memories of how a brand new set of SwingBass strings would make any bass I put them on breath fire...

Used 66's, 77's (once), Solo Bass, and PSD's (once or twice). All good strings, just different flavors. I didn't notice much difference between the Swing Bass and Solo Bass... maybe a little more controlled sounding/less fret noise. The flats didn't do it for me when I tried 'em, but I only tried them once... and it was soon after I first picked up the bass. The contact cores were alright... plenty of snap. But they were one heckuva hassle to put on (not worth it IMO). I didn't have the weird harmonic problem that some have with 'em, though. Anyway, I played Rotos happily for several years before switching to DR, just looking to try something new. Since then I've stuck with Sunbeams, but you can't go wrong with Rotosound!

I've got the swing bass 66's on two of my basses atm. They sound and feel pretty good to me... I also tried some funk masters. They sounded really nice as well, I just didn't like the feeling of how light they were :P
I'd have to say Rotosound strings are definitely worth trying out.

I started off with the Rotosound Swing Bass std gauge about 20 years ago. Loved them . Then went the DR route and just about every other brand you can name about 3 years later. I couldn't find a brand that was consistant enough or had the same grind. After a couple of years of that I went back to Rotosounds and have stuck with them ever since. I use SM 66's .040 -.100. They're hard on frets and faint of heart fingertips but you can't beat the tone.
