Round wound strings

TB loves scaring people about using rounds on a fretless. It will be fine. You are not going to create holes in your fingerboard in a matter of hours or even months like most people here suggest.

I recently put round wounds on my fretless bass and I like how they sound a lot better than the flats, so we'll see how it goes over the years. I didn't pay that much for the bass actually so if it does mess up the fret board a little I can live with it. Thanks again for all the helpful advice.

it is about the sound, I just went through a period of flats and tapes my fretless. Just got an ebanol fingerboard and have it strung with rounds. It is a different sound. The tapes and flats have interesting characteristics too, but the rounds really bring out the fretless, IMO. I had rounds on my older bass for 20 years and the board is marked but not enough to do anything. I say, go for the sound you want.

....How many other folks are using rounds on a fretless Ebanol board? I'm in the process of putting a Mity Mite Unlined Ebanol neck an old Jazz Clone, and want to put Boomers on it. I generally run tapewounds on my Rosewood fretless, but wanna try something different this time. Maybe.... LOL
