Roundwound help!!!!!

I have been looking for roundwounds that will sound deep and groovy. Think tubby and dark with retaining the roundwound mojo.

What is out there?

Dr sunbeams with tone control rolled down some if passive and treble rolled down or flat if active. Sunbeams being very very warm, dark tone oriented with little top end. Their treble new to me sounds like very broken in roundwounds in general.

+1 thats well described, I loved my Dr sunbeams but I play to much and they died on my after 3 weeks!

What is out there?

Look into GHS Pressure Wounds. Warmer than rounds but still full and punchy in the mids. Smoother feel than rounds but still retain some of that roundwound feel and broad tonal response. No need to play the zing out of them. They'll mellow a bit over time but they don't go dead like some rounds.

They definitely are, but I doubt they can be described as "tubby and dark".

I really think "tubby and dark" is more a function of amp EQ and bass tone controls than of the strings. All the nickels I've used have quite a bit of top end, just not the slice & dice of stainless.
