Rumble 100 distorting/overtones on certain higher notes

Parameters here are a passive P-bass direct into new Fender Rumble 100, sitting a few inches off the floor on angled an angled stand. Bass volume is maxed. Gain and volume both at 9 o'clock (i.e. only a quarter turned up), everything thing else is at noon. This happens with or without "vintage" button depressed.

On certain notes, mainly the D-string B-C-C#-D I am getting this weird distorted overtone coming from the amp. Its hard to describe, but its a humming/boomy/"vrrmmmmmmm" sound on top of the note. Any ideas?

Also, aside from this issue, is it normal for the amp to "clip" or distort when digging in deep with the above settings?

NO. Bass EQ is NOT to max. My post stated that my BASS volume--i.e. the volume knob on the bass itself-- is up and the EQ is all at noon.

Are you sure it is the amp and not the bass?
Try a different bass and try settings on the amp.

Try putting the amp directly on the floor (to eliminate the angled stand as a variable).

Another good troubleshooting step is to mute the speaker and listen through headphones. This will tell you whether or not the distortion is caused by the speaker cab.

Can you try your rig outside to eliminate the possibility of something in the room causing this? It’s a common cause.

Did you ever figure out what the issue was? I have a Fender Rumble 40 with what sounds like the same issue. Occurs with two different basses and different cables. I've plugged in headphones and it is still there, so lools like it is the amp not the speaker.
