Rumble 100 v3: what you get for $80 (pic heavy)

I recently picked up a Fender Rumble 100 v3 for the smoking deal of $80. I knew the Aux Input on the back had been jammed in and wasn’t working, but it seemed functional aside from that so I took a chance. I finally had the chance to confirm it was out of warranty and take it apart to see what I could see.

The good: the damage to the Aux Input seems isolated solely to the jack itself, and not the board it (and a bunch of other stuff) is mounted to. Seems like it’d be an easy fix, although I’m not great at surface mount soldering so I’ll take it to a tech when/if I get it fixed. It was a bit dirty but seems to overall be in good shape except for...

The bad: someone shot the speaker with a BB. I don’t think it went through the cone, but I did find it inside the cab. You can see the slight displacement of grill cloth and the dent in the cone. I haven’t had a chance to crank it up so not sure how the damage changes the sound.

Verdict: I’m still very happy with my purchase. I’m not gigging so even if there are limitations at higher volume I don’t think the damage will limit the use case I have for it. Should I choose to replace the speaker with one of the upgrades mentioned in the Rumble Club thread and wiki, the total cost would probably be lower than buying an open box unmodified one.

I couldn’t find many gut shots of this combo, so I took a ton of pics to hopefully show folks who have one what it’s like inside. I also took several shots of the stuff I found inside (the BB and bit of Rolex inside the cab, the broken ring inside the amp enclosure.) the damage to the speaker cone, and shots of the speaker pulled out of the box. 8823AF78-D543-4BCE-834D-5BA55F8F337A.jpeg F9925DDA-5806-4FEE-A1BE-0C39B657D4EC.jpeg B0AF5325-1A33-4345-B5F1-030D172163E7.jpeg 7ED98593-E7E8-4A24-97C2-5FA3F164DC05.jpeg 733952C6-647F-432F-9D71-744715B27ABF.jpeg D53D6367-A794-42DA-B27B-DCEBEA93D584.jpeg 77986FB6-5B66-4948-9F68-6DD42EFCAA17.jpeg A1661C32-927C-4ABE-A2B3-06428E3147A6.jpeg 3EBF60B5-D2CF-4ED1-B654-DF0B36DC36B9.jpeg 88ACD1E5-919C-4FDC-90FE-4AB4ED17FD27.jpeg 3AF875B8-4050-4012-AD86-1AE93E01810F.jpeg B78CA992-1AA2-4A9D-9593-82C2482A836D.jpeg 8F39440B-02C3-4E8F-A17D-61506ECE7878.jpeg 76C1D746-068A-46C4-9AE0-C8A743184EC7.jpeg 850EE930-7187-4E05-9C33-B0E8114FB180.jpeg E1EBC8BB-1510-4C68-861B-626CA6D712BC.jpeg 6E9C60CA-317B-4087-9FD1-E28DF6AB4EA9.jpeg 29ABD841-A8AA-4607-B76B-435CE7BBBACC.jpeg AF8C6E5A-5E10-4E8E-8AE6-650D92DA3114.jpeg 12B32692-FAC8-453C-8B75-FB009700030F.jpeg 0F1035DD-E424-4AA0-A712-98ED650638CD.jpeg ADD399D9-057F-417A-87DE-77E94C424E59.jpeg ADED8396-6955-45A4-A355-21226FF489A5.jpeg 01F1C0D5-54A2-44F1-9980-7E4277B9AE67.jpeg

May we assume you meant "Tolex"? Although a piece of Rolex would be an interesting story.
