Running Poetry Thread

ADVENTURES IN BABYSITTING (2013)

Makenzie’s running laps
Round and round the central division
Every once in a while a collision
As she baps
Into a wall
She even took a fall
But with every lap
She gives my palm a tap
She’s up to twenty seven
Her steps are getting leaden
Her breath is coming in gasps
Until at last
She’s run herself out
Maybe now she’ll take a nap

--- END OF WEEK 2 ---

Cogratulations to Week 1 winner @S-Bigbottom with "Mother's Milk"!
Results: Poetry Thread Week 1 - Poll Results

Titles in quotes were submitted untitled, so I assigned them titles. Don't like it? Title your own damned poem.

I don't care if you submit multiple works in a given week.

I don't care if you vote multple times.

I don't care if you vote for yourself.

A self-deprecating rap entry (mainly because I haven't seen one here yet) from my unwritten, unrecorded and unpublished, multi-paraffin wax-cylinder recording: "The Completely Avoidable Fiasco of Appearing to Be Wise":

Not a lover. Not a fighter.
Just a rhyme reciter.
Dollar Menu guru
and a wanna-be writer.

I've got a pellet gun,
Shooting at the sublime
in a dumpster full of wishes
and I'm traveling time.

Kung-Fu haiku.
A born obfusticator.
A brother from another mother.
Undercover percolator.

I get played like Monopoly pieces.
Baltic Ave. slumlord
Trading tens for Reese's.
I wonder if that little dog drops silver feces?

Cornerstone bone:
the rock that can't be split.
I'm spreading menace, intrigue
and some mysterious, deep poopie.

Mind like a shredder.
Making paper mache.
My metaphorical pinatas:
knocked to hell with one hit.
